Following nearly a year of development and use in its own operations, BNO Travel is making BNO Service available as a commercial software product for hotels, destination companies and lodging providers. Visit Stranda has signed the first external software and license agreement, while BNO Service is also available through the Mews Marketplace.

BNO Service is designed for operations and workforce management across hotels, resorts, vacation rentals and serviced accommodations. Through its direct integration with the Mews Connector API, the platform transforms reservation, unit and product data into operational workflows for housekeeping, cleaning, maintenance and other service tasks.

“We initially developed BNO Service because we needed better control of our own operations, actual working time and the profitability of individual assignments. Over time, we realized that these challenges were not unique to us. That is why we have built BNO Service so that the same technology can also be used by other lodging providers,” says Jan Terje Ås, Managing Director of BNO Travel AS.

From Internal Tool to Commercial Software Product

BNO Service was originally developed for BNO Travel’s own operations. The platform supports automatic task creation based on reservations and products in Mews, workforce planning, team management, standard task times, checklists, documentation and employee time tracking.

Completed work can also provide the basis for operational reporting, payroll preparation, labor-cost calculations and profitability and contribution-margin analysis at assignment level.

“For us, connecting operations with the financial side of the business has been essential. It is not enough to know that a housekeeping assignment has been completed. We also want to understand how much time was actually spent, what it cost and whether the assignment was profitable,” says Ås.

Direct Integration With Mews

BNO Service integrates directly with the Mews Connector API. Reservations, units and products in Mews can automatically generate assignments in BNO Service, providing operational teams with updated information without requiring tasks to be created manually.

The platform is designed for multi-property and multi-company operations and can be used by management, team leaders and operational employees. BNO Service is listed in the Mews Marketplace as an operations and workforce management solution.

Built for Multilingual Teams and International Operations

BNO Service is designed for businesses operating across languages and markets. The employee app supports 21 languages, while the administration interface is available in 8 languages, allowing both operational staff and management to use the platform in a language suited to their work environment.

“Hospitality is an international industry, even at local level. Many lodging businesses employ people who speak different languages, so we wanted language support to be part of the product itself rather than something added later,” says Ås.

Visit Stranda Becomes First External Customer

Visit Stranda has signed the first external commercial software and license agreement for BNO Service. The agreement marks the transition from a platform developed for BNO Travel’s own operations to a standalone software product for external customers.

“Having an external organization choose to implement the platform is an important milestone for us. We are moving from developing software primarily around our own operational requirements to building a product that can scale across hotels, destination companies and lodging businesses,” says Ås.

Further Expansion Planned

BNO Travel will now continue offering BNO Service to hotels, resorts, destination organizations, vacation rental operators and other businesses involved in lodging operations. The platform is offered through software license and subscription agreements.

“Our ambition is not to build another generic task-management platform. We want to create a specialized operational tool designed around the actual challenges faced by the lodging industry,” says Ås.
